Roadside is NOT open! Just talked to the owner, and said he knew nothing about the sign being tore down and that it was open again... Way to mess it up again (whoever did this), he had intentions on opening back to the public very soon, but I would doubt it now. When will the climbing community stop the bullshit shenanigans, and have some respect for the owners of private property. Hopefully we can find out who the jackass is that decided he/she had the right to open someone else's land to climbers and vandalize property.

A climber did this, NOT the climbing community. Why would you blame the whole community for the act of one vandal???

I can not believe that someone would do such a horrible thing. And to think that unbeknownst to us, they were so close to reopening it. I don't even know what to think, or how to respond to such childish idiocy, science friction has been at the top of my to do list for years now. After much searching, I have found the website that best sums up my internal dialog

People do things much worse than cutting a sign down, every day. It shouldn't be too hard to imagine some young punk kid with too much time on his/her hands thinking it would be awesome "sticking it to the man" by cutting down his sign.

Sign, sign, everywhere's sign.

So I climbed at Roadside today. There were a couple of locals there as well, in addition to some weekenders. I wasn't there for this exchange, but my parents were approaching the trail when they were stopped by some guy (they believed he was a land manager or something). Anyway, this guy was acquainted with Grant and the other owner, and was under the impression that the crag was closed. He had seen the other owner (I think I remember his name being John?) the previous day, and "John" did not say anything about Roadside being reopened, or that there was a bullshit sign, or whatever. So he basically told my parents that he would call Grant/John and check to see what was going on, with our understanding being that he'd come up and ask us to leave if he got conflicting information from the owners. Well, he never came up to the wall, so either he never was able to get in touch or he got the green light. This obviously isn't definitive, but it may be some small indication that the crag was open. Also, the local guys I was talking to were (I believe) coalition people, and they seemed pretty sure that climbing was permitted.

It's still closed. Definitively.
