Hwy 715 Road Closure 6/4 to 6/6

Post by captain static »

From Tim Eling of the U.S. Forest Service:
KY Transportation Department will be paving KY 715 in Wolfe County between concrete bridge at Red River up to almost Chimney Top Road starting tomorrow (Wed, June 4) through Friday (June 6). The road will be closed. If they get rained out 1 of these next 3 days (high chance), then the closure may continue into Saturday (June 7). This section definitely needs paving so this is a good thing!

My understanding is the crew will start tomorrow at concrete bridge at Menifee County line and work south up the hill.

This will restrict access to Sky Bridge Recreation Area as well as the following trailheads:
Wildcat
Swift Camp Creek (northern terminus)
Rough Trail (eastern terminus)
Angel Windows
Whistling Arch
Sky Bridge

In addition, several climbing areas will have restricted access:
Several Sky Bridge climbing Areas
Funk Rock City

Awesome news.

I bike through the RRG a few times a month and that section was one of the worst . . . can't wait to ride it once the work is done.
