Noticed the change in status in the online guide. Any further information?
Edit: Really hoping this isn't related to the recent yahoo featured on Weekend Whipper, but that would be my leading suspicion.
Area 6- CLOSED

Re: Area 6- CLOSED
Area 6 is now listed as closed on the online guide because the property owner has expressed a clear, unambiguous directive that he does not want anyone entering his land, trespassing on his land and/or climbing on his land. Ray has responded to this new information from the owner by respecting the owner’s request and listing Area 6 as closed to climbing. Please help spread the word.
The first ascentionists had attempted to locate the property owner by asking the oil company employees for the owners information and sending two certified letters to what they were told were the owner(s). It turns out that the information was incorrect. Unknown to the first ascentionists the actual owner was never contacted.
I have volunteered my services to Bentley Brackett, President of RRGCC to do the legal and historical research to systematically identify and verify all the adjacent land owners to the PMRP as part of a long-term project to create a comprehensive land use plan for the Coalition.
It turns out that the property ownership records for this vast area are not always accurate or easy to verify. Some missing records and inaccuracies have already been discovered that will undoubtedly take me months, if not years, to reconcile. However, as an early result of this research I was able to identify the correct owner of Area 6 and asked a professional realtor—who is both a friend but who is not a climber, so if need be, they could honestly deny any knowledge of climbing or climbers—to make a friendly professional courtesy call to the owner and verify their ownership and potential interest in selling or perhaps granting access.
On Monday, April 28th the owner of Area 6 was contacted. He verified his ownership and expressed no interest in selling. During the conversation he indicated that he was aware that the RRGCC had purchase the adjoining property and that climbing was going on in the area. He did not indicate that he was aware that there was climbing on his property but was clear he did not want climbers or climbing on his property. The property owner’s business is selling fossil fuel products. His family has owned the land and the royalty rights to the property and surrounding area since 1957 which he has since inherited. He was pleasant and appreciative of the call but expressed his primary concern was for the protection of the oil wells and uninterrupted oil production.
Thanks to Kipp Trummel and Ray Ellington for helping respect the wishes of the land owner and acting promptly. Thanks in advance to everyone else for helping spread the word and for abiding the owner’s wishes by not climbing there. If there are any changes or new information we will be sure to share the information and pass it along.
I will be glad to try to answer any questions I may have the answer for, or clarify anything I have said.
Thanks,
Shannon

Re: Area 6- CLOSED
Very informative. Thank you Shannon - will pass the word.
Re: Area 6- CLOSED
Proving Ground is owned by a different owner, so this closure is based upon direct information from the owner of Area 6 only. Ownership for Proving Ground has not been verified but neither has permission been affirmatively given or denied. That is all I know at this time.
Re: Area 6- CLOSED
Cool! Thanks Shannon! As most know I am not a big fan of the RRGCC, but Shannon was fully open and very informative of the situation. I hope this kind of action carries on in the red!
I don't have haters, I have fans in denial.
