How do you forget a camera with such high value, then proceed to scrap your loses and not even look for it?

That strikes me as strange too. Side note: When I was at muir last weekend I think I saw more DSLR cameras in one place than I have outside of professional sporting events. There were almost as many people taking photos/video as there were climbing. Don't get me wrong, my wife is a videographer and I love using DSLRs to capture video/photo of fun moments, but something about how every other group had 2 or more people with absorbed in their cameras bothered me a little.
