I love everyones dogs being at the crag. I love meeting "the rest of the family". Dogs are animals and belong in the outdoors. Why leave them at home while we go enjoy their natural environment. After all, we've forced them to learn to live in our environment over hundreds of year, then we don't let them enjoy it with us the few days a week we can?! How wrong is that!

As far as I'm concerned, bring the dogs! They make the day more fun. They make me laugh, smile and they're one of the best conversation starters for meeting new people and making new friends. Yeah, put aggressive dogs on a leash, but let them enjoy the crag. Maybe they won't be so aggressive if they're happier. Dogs rule!

Tradwanker, that was definately a bad situation. My dog has been loose at the crags and at the risk of being "anthropomorphic" I have a genuine sense he is not a threat to any person or dog. He is usually leashed , and always until I have taken in the possibilities. JH should have the right to feel angry at being bitten and no appology made. I would lose something if I went climbing and never ran into people sharing their passion for being out with their dog. But , people come first everytime regarding injury or intimidation. Having said that, there is a responsibility for humans to speak responsibly. There is something inherit in me that rails everytime when someone throws that kind of rhetoric (jH) out to strangers. There 's the do not trespass sign and then there's the cross this line and fuckin die sign. Makes me want to get the big ass (mean) mastif and jump that line.

why are there quotes around anthropomorphic?

Anyway, I like dogs. I don't care for idiots. If I were a dog, I would bite the shit out of JH. If I were a mean dog and my considerate owner tied me up so I wouldn't bite anybody, I'd chew through the flippin rope to gnaw on this dude.

" put aggressive dogs on a leash, but let them enjoy the crag."
Exactly what I mean by Denial. You just dont get it. Leave the agressive dog at home.

My dog is really old and I kind of have to carry him with me.

There are three things he loves more than anything else:
1. Getting in the car to go anywhere.
2. Arriving there and finding woods.
3. Arriving there and finding lots of people and children.

He's never bitten anyone in the 13 years I've had him. He's had all his shots, etc. The only scenario that I can imagine him grabbing someone with his mouth (the idea of him really BITING anyone is just ridiculous) would be if they stepped on him or if they were playing with him.

All that aside, I want to know what this J.H. person looks like. I don't trust anyone as stupid as that. If he surprised my dog and the dog tried to jump to his feet (it's more kind of jump up a few inches and then struggle erect these days) how am I to know he's not going to take this sudden motion as a precursor to an attack? I need to be able to recognize this lunatic so I can be prepared for him to start kicking at my dog. In which case... well, there are too many threats in this thread already. Let's just say that J.H. should think twice about throwing death threats to the world.

Don't threaten violence in a hypothetical future scenario. You're kind of asking for it to come true. Kind of sounds like you expect it to come true.

He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

The Gorge area is way big enough for everyone, climber, camper, dog, or whatever.

I think my point is, "Shut the f*** up and climb."

Tradwanker said that a muddy dog with black spots and an Alaskan looking dog? It sounds like Gretchen's sister's dog exhibited aggression toward several people. Gretchen, I had no problem with Reilly but I'm thinking that he was definitely the culprit here.
