That's a great suggestion - coming from someone who is obviously not familiar with the politics of the area.

Rick and Liz wanted to buy the PMRP and then finance it to the RRGCC at a nice rate so they could make a profit. The RRGCC declined. At that point Rick and Liz decided that they were going to do it better. They have had few to no dealings with the RRGCC since and have "unselfishly" thrown themselves into their project of MV to show how much better they could do it. Many would argue that they have done a better job (after all they have BATHROOMS!!!). Many argue that MV is an unsustainable money sucking monster (likely).

In either case, I bet that the webers have some kind of clause that if they don't receive the funding the RRGCC is not to ever manage the property. They would banish it to the likes of pocket wall before that would happen.

Personally, they CLAIM their operating expenses will go down - but their data shows it goes up every year. I don't buy that their funding will go down.

So let's assume for a minute that every word that you just typed in 100% true and unbiased in anyway. Is letting 300 acres of already developed land and infrastructure worth just letting go by the wayside? I'm having a hard time understand why there is so much butthurt against the Webers to the point where we'd rather lose an asset to the community than put "POLITICS" aside? Because despite what many of you apparently think of the Webers, you can't say that Muir isn't a great entity in the Gorge. Whether it's couple of stellar walls with many great routes, or the BATHROOMS or the fact that it attracts SO MANY visitors that it takes strain off of other crags/resources. Sure, it may be more in cost than we are used to, but what other areas get this kind of traffic? And I doubt expenses will continue to go up or stay where it is. The infrastructure that the Webers have decided upon is built. If they no longer have a say/dream, then how are the current costs going to continue in the same fashion?

Not true. I had a couple conversations with John Bronough while discussions were going on with the Murrays about helping with the purchase in a not-for-profit manner. No interest was expressed by the Coalition, so we dropped it.

Not true. In the first two years after the PMRP was purchased we tried to be good neighbors. Liz and I co-sponsored the first Johnny and Alex Trail Day and provided food for the event. (Those with event tee shirts can confirm this.) Also MV and RRGCC jointly conducted the first Roadside Trail Day.

We're very confident the funding will happen. The response just in the past few days has been overwhelming.

All donations will go toward operating and maintaining Muir, just as they always have. All money collected by MV or FOMV goes toward the goal.

We've repeatedly stated that operating expense will undoubtedly go down significantly after the infrastructure is up to snuff. But it's more fun to set up a straw man then knock him down.
