I realize that beauty is in the eye of beholder. So it is not surprising that there is a wide variety in opinions on route quality.....
I guess my question is. Do you think highly of routes that feel like the bolts are pulling you toward more difficult climbing as opposed to the bolts following weakness up the wall(most likely the easiest path).

i think this is a great question but so few people ever have the chance to think about what a wall or section of crag offers as compared to a few gaps. if approaching and developing an untouched wall wouldn't one want to first realize the most direct lines and wouldn't this represent the most aesthetic? i mean, obviously one could take the 12 wall at military and loop around to cover all sorts of obscure climbing 'problems' (much like thought experiments?)
