Indiana Climbers...

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new to Columbus, Indiana, used to live in Wales, UK but moved here for work.

I'm looking for people that are motivated for some full on route sessions indoors at either Hoosier heights Indi or Bloomington! I Would be cool with a group that's happy for me to tag along, or an individuals...

I'm hoping to get lots of weekend trips in this year and would be easier if I have a regular partner than finding people in Miguels! As friendly as everyone is!

Grade wise, I don't think it matters for indoor as long as you can belay safely, but outdoors it would looking to get lots of 12 & 13's done...

Hi Dafydd, great to see another Welshman over here. I was born and raised in Dinas Powys (South Glamorgan). I live in Chicago and have been climbing in the Red for the past 14-15years. And, yes the the last phrase does translate as into English as "My hovercraft is full of eels" but isn't everyones.

If any of you are looking for partners for a weekend in the red then give me a shout! Peter, im not sure if you drive down I65 to the red, but could be an option to break up the journey!
Currently nursing a painful jaw at the moment, following wisdom teeth removal... But will be well enough soon!

Dafydd, I do pass through on my way to the Red and will be happy to climb with you when it gets a little warmer. To be honest, you'll find lots of climbing partners. The Red has a very active and open climbing community. The Red is a fantastic climbing area - nearly as good and similar in scale to Pembroke.

Columbus isn't a bad town - My wife was a General Counsel at Cummings in the mid-Ninities.

Sorry Andrew, long time no see. Welsh is the oldest surviving language in Europe. It was a bardic language - our stories were handed down through poetry and song rather than as a written language. The English tried and almost suceeded in eradicating the Welsh language until it was revived in the early 1970's by a vocal minority (by definition) who became known as the Welsh Language Lobby. As a result of their actions all children in Wales learn Welsh in school, all public documents and road signs are bi-lingual and there are now all Welsh TV channels. I growing-up I spoke 50/50 Welsh/English until I was about 11 - Now, I don't even have a Welsh accent.
