Kentucky does have some mighty fine boulder problems, you just have to be adventurous. I would vote for Boone over those areas.

Daniel Boone used to boulder hard...rumor has it that he established the ratings in the red so therefore Ondra is a turd.

yeah. the size of the horde is/was a pretty large disincentive.

Last time it was really bad but it hasn't been so much before that for me this fall/winter. I sort of brought it with me to be honest so I had to hear spray spray spray (spray3) constantly not to mention broken equipment, constant dependence, boulder pad hijacking, and then bitching about sharing fuel costs. Made me totally lose it. Under 30's are a pain for sure.

Being from TN i've had a fair bit of experience with all these areas, and i'll say that Rocktown blows LRC out of the water. The quality of boulder problems and the ability to escape the crowds in a giant forest...amazing! HP40 is the bane of my existence because that's my least favorite style but i respect the fact that it's an extremely unique place for the US and my mind did almost explode the first time i climbed on those slopers. LRC = nashville and chatty's outdoor gym. Rocktown on a sunny winter day = paradise.

I would throw Rumbling Bald at the top of that list. It is a shorter drive than most (about the same as LRC). It is also fun to get away from Sandstone from time to time. The two most important factors for me though... It dries faster than Sandstone which is important in the rainy winters of the south (or the occassional snow), and I like the style there more (more crimps and blockyness). That said, camping sucks there.

Well said Mr. Yarbrough... this is how I feel about LRC vs. Rocktown.

I need to go check out Rumbling Bald... I've never been. Is there any beta in a guidebook for this place?? Or is it mostly just word of mouth? What is the camping situation like there??

The NRG's bouldering development is exploding right now, too. I may check it out, if I ever get sick of the roped climbing there.
