Sporty sport lines allowed?
Re: Sporty sport lines allowed?
Can't we all just get along?
Re: Sporty sport lines allowed?
It is about pushing yourself and you can do that safely on routes with well spaced bolts. If there isn't a draw for you to conveniently grab, you whip, yard back up and go from there. The only problem with getting in over your head should be having to leave a biner or find a rope gun, not getting injured. Im condoning that bolters purposely try to make dangerous routes but airy ones are just fine if the falls are clean. Crown of Thorns is a good example of this.nik wrote:but isn't the point of sport climbing to push the barriers of one's ability? projecting routes and what not? "if you're not grabbing draws you're not trying hard enough" (etc).Willy wrote:I agree with that. Bolters shouldn't have to worry about someone getting in over their head. If you don't know how to fall and don't have a competent belayer you shouldn't even be climbing
with that said, i don't have a dog in this fight. i appreciate all the efforts of those that bolt routes for me to climb. although when i think about bolting routes myself (if that ever happens in the future) i don't think i'd bolt them with the idea that only ppl who are solid at the grade are going to climb it. is projecting only for those that climb 13 and above?

Brutal! Don't worry Nick, with good behavior you will get to be Safety Captain before the semester is over too.

Wish I could take credit but it is quite intersting in a humorous way!
