There is a question if Purgatory is even on our land...draw a line from Purgatory across the valley to the furthest leftmost route at North 40....anything past that is not ours....Bill, am I correct?

Based upon co-ordinates and that map, Purgatory is actually on Ashland WMA... but I wasn't going to bring that up.

sure looks like it anyway... sounds like a hornets nest alright (pardon the timely reference!). in my experience, property lines are an approximate and flexible construct in eastern Kentucky... share your land and don't piss people off, and they will generally be ok with sharing theirs. that's why I think the attempt to ban ATVs in the PMRP is a dumb idea and an aggressive survey could backfire.

It is more academic than anything. It is close to the line and Purgatory is well established. In all reality, I really don't think it would stir the pot much if a few super hard lines went in back in that area on Ashland WMA. Mainly because of access to it. No new roads or parking areas being traveled.

I always chuckle when climbers feel it's OK to bend the rules a little, when it's to their benefit... And I agree with Dustin, share and share alike. Banning ATVs would not bring good karma.
