Josephine, how does the quality compare to the cu belay glasses? What is the container like? Do you feel like you are getting an equivalent product? The reason I ask is that I have people ask me about the cu belay glasses I have every time I am out. I always mention Phil's as perhaps a comparable and cheaper alternative. But I really can't make a recommendation as I don't know how well they are manufactured or hold up.

Thanks,

Ian

we'll have to climb together sometime to compare. I don't have the expensive brand so I don't know how they compare directly. Are you in lex? Maybe you can borrow a pair from Bram and try them out to see. The case doesn't have the foam liner of the cu ones - but I'm also not paying $75 for a foam liner I don't need! :-)

Sick, Phil... I'm glad you followed through with these!! I remember the 1st prototype pair that you made when you were still living in Lex.

I'll probably be placing an order for my pair soon... Look out for it! Hope all is well.

Cheers,

Todd

Bluegrass Bouldering now has a loaner pair people can take to the cliff and try out. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't want belay glasses after using them for a day. The problem until now was ridiculous price point. Phil has addressed that quite well. While they still may be out of the price range of some, the neck relief is well worth it for most, especially considering how much of a more attentive belay one can now give.

Just get an old surplus army tank prism and hang it around your neck!

On a serious note, didn't the original guy have a patent on this?

Doesn't work well. Phil did something similar for prototype one. Trust me, you wouldn't want to wear them to belay.

I'm sold, but I still can't access the checkout page. Phil, pm me to set up a purchase or let me know when the checkout piece is fixed.

Krampus: are you using IE8? For some reason you can't click on the Add to Cart button with IE8 but it works fine with Chrome, Safari and Firefox. I am working on a fix but for now using another browser is the working solution. If that doesn't work let me know.

C2C: you are totally correct. It depends on what your time is worth and what kind of quality you want in your finished product. I think most peoples' time is worth more to them than the time it would take to build an equivalent pair of glasses. if you Dremel up a nice pair let me know, I would love to see pictures.

Did you tried that ones, they make a big diference with the others Chineese glasses. And no need to modify.
