On another note, Ondra's wobblers and mid-crux screaming and mewling histrionics would never be tolerated here in the Red...

So much so that you ran cromper away from sport climbing, into the dark abyss known as trad. You sick sick man.dustonian wrote:And yeah, Brenty you got it about right. My favorite ploy is to find someone who is almost but not quite strong enough to send my sick projects, and then sit back and watch their spirit get crushed by it over a matter of weeks (or sometimes months)... the great Germanic tradition of schadenfreude!!
Skipping cruxes is a way of life.

Odo got away with it aside from the minor public derision on the forum.dustonian wrote:On another note, Ondra's wobblers and mid-crux screaming and mewling histrionics would never be tolerated here in the Red...

Closed? Tell that to a lot of the rrgcc members that climb there, and to the oil workers I talked to last fall that said they loved the climbers and watching all the crazy people dangling off the rocks.dustonian wrote:There are plenty of other 5.15's on that wall for Harry Potter to bolt.
You mean that relatively moderate slab climb at a closed crag?allah wrote:Someone take him to Skeletor pj!

Re: Media frenzy!!
Actually most people poach the Arena, I have never seen a climber or even any signs of traffic at Oil Crack over the last few years. It is pretty much an vine-covered overgrown wasteland and between the aggro jungle funk and bulldozing work by the oil company there, the trails have become non-existent. My point was just that there are local climbers here talented enough to have sent that route years ago, it is just that no one climbs on that wall anymore. It's sad really (can't wait til Roadside looks like that!)... but hopefully the land will open up for sale soon.allah wrote:Someone take him to Skeletor pj!

In any case, RRG "yokels" definitely don't need to import Harry Potter to poach a 6-bolt mid to high-14. And Ondra or pretty much any sponsored athlete would never bother much with a route that they can't spray about in the climbing media... they are trying to make a living at this, after all.

I am betting he will be/is pissed that a hold broke on Pure Imagination. I am sure he has studied the footage for an onsight attempt. Anyone confirm if it still goes at 14d?
