Oh ok gotcha, I thought you meant route quality. But I guess that's subjective too!

dude, bring your trad rack if possible. seriously. if you don't you will regret it. Joshua Tree is a world class trad area but the sport is not much to talk about. Just strap the rack to the bottom of the bag or duct tape it to the top. or bring another bag. I didn't have a rack the first few times i went to j-tree and i didn't think to much of the area. then the next few times I brought my rack and i saw what the fuss was all about.

Do Mental Physics if you bring your rack. it is out at the lenticular domes. totally sweet route.

Definitely bring your rack to J-Tree.....the "sport climbing" at J-Tree is very sporty...mostly run out stuff put up on lead. The trad there is actually more fun...wow did I just say that

Do "Run For Your Life" 10B bolted (Note I called it bolted not sport.) Classic, and it'll scare your pants off
Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.

i think it is weird that the term sporty has come to mean run out routes with big falls instead of well bolted routes with safe falls. the sportier a sport route is the less it is like a sport route.
