Crowds
Re: Crowds
I didn't know we were including non published crags. If that is the case, matrix wall wins that award.

Re: Crowds
Pffttt...The Cove would win, hands down.
Re: Crowds
i've heard it's totally not safe there, several ninjas died and a troll had to be put down- there's even talk about the sasquatch?
training is for people who care, i have a job.
Re: Crowds
At Muir Saturday: 172 vehicles; 550 climbers (A one-day record). Sunday: 112 vehicles; 358 climbers. Folks are learning to fan out to more of the remote areas so that crowding is really not too bad. And more routes are being developed and opened, which will ease crowding. Dustin's new "Ivory Tower" wall holds seven spectacular lines (5.12 - 5.14). And the new Tectonic Left Wall under development will include four new moderates. All the popular areas had vacant routes most of Sat and Sun.
Very few locals. Many climbers traveled long distances. Lots of Europeans. License plates Sat from 22 states, including many Western states.

Also at Muir this past week, two AMGA SPI courses, one Rescue 3 International Rope Rescue course, and the Torrent Falls and KRAG guides very busy as usual.

Re: Crowds
Thanks for the update, Rick.
I'm sure you know that the climbing community appreciates Muir Valley very much so. Sounds like it is absorbing the crowds quite well, and they sound like big crowds, too! This Ivory Tower wall sounds great... I'm not familiar with it... I'll have to come check it out soon.
Since we're talking about unpublished crags... Andrew and Piggy... care to disclose where the Annex and Matrix walls are located?? Thanks.

Re: Crowds
Ivory Tower is published. The Matrix is imaginary and the Annex is in Kipp's garage.
Re: Crowds
Right... I know that Ivory Tower is published...
Sick, I love imaginary and garage crags... those are my favorite.
