Cell service
Cell service
What cell service works best in the gorge? I’ll be moving back to Lexington this spring after about eight years away. As I remember, no providers had any decent service back then. Has anything changed? I’m just about up for a new phone. Thanks for the help.
Re: Cell service
I have Verizon and have really never had a problem with service. Ocassionally I'll find a crag where I don't get reception but they are few and far.
Re: Cell service
I get service pretty much anywhere in the Red, and I have verizon.
Re: Cell service
Thanks. Does anyone know what the ATT service is like? They seem to be terrible in a lot of places, but I'm grandfathered into a cheap unlimited data plan with them.

Re: Cell service
My buddy has it and he doesn't get service in Muir valley. I don't think we've tried in PMRP or anywhere else.ForeverGumby wrote:Thanks. Does anyone know what the ATT service is like? They seem to be terrible in a lot of places, but I'm grandfathered into a cheap unlimited data plan with them.
Re: Cell service
Cell service for all carriers work fine at the Muir Valley parking lots. Service in the Valley is almost non-existent. AT&T cell service has been marginal at the Bruise Brothers Wall and the upper part of the Guide Wall.
For emergencies, there are seven stations throughout Muir with 2-way radios. Almost always, someone in the Valley is monitoring the pre-set emergency channel (FRS 5.0). As this is a volunteer activity of the Muir Valley Rescue Group, there are no guarantees that the frequency will be monitored at any given time. But, in the past two years, at least a dozen calls for help were answered and immediately responded to.
