where is the best legal deep water soloing?

Post by heavyc »

in the region, in the states? I was recently at Norris Lake with my son and he enjoyed that climbing more than any other type he has tried before, but it is pretty limited there (although I may have missed some good spots around that Lake as I only have been on a small portion of it), did I hear correctly that Summersville Lake deep water soloing is no longer allowed?

Kentucky I would say Kentucky River or Laurel River Lake. For Tennesse I would check out Dale hallow. Cumberland has a good amount of rock but there are grey areas with the rules.

As long as you don't jump, you're good at Grayson Lake. I go all the time, and have seen/talked to the rangers on many occasions. Wearing a life-vest while climbing makes you look a little safer as well... I actually found a chalk on a couple of the dws routes yesterday.
