Where to live?
Where to live?
So what's the best climbing town to live in? I recently (finally) graduated college, I'm single, have no debt and am looking to move to a cool town within an hour of a great sport climbing destination. My first thought was Lexington, as I've done 95% of my climbing in the red, but I know there's a lot of options. What better resource to turn to than the infinite wisdom of this forum? Really though, if there was one place to move to for sport climbing where would you go?

Sorry, should have specified, where in the U.S. would you go?

Eh... boring. Chattanooga or Bishop I suppose then. Lex is alright too but the drive and shitty weather get old. I'd recommend broadening your horizons beyond sport climbing, though.
Re: Where to live?
Chattanooga is on my list, but I thought Bishop was mostly bouldering (?). I'm open to trad, but realistically right now I'm a sport climber with a trad rack thats been gathering dust for several years.

Re: Where to live?
There are at least a thousand sport climbs around Bishop, not to mention proximity to lots of great crags in Nevada.

i bought an old beat up house and spend all my time trying to hold it together. forget living anywhere and go everywhere. the classics- Vegas or Seattle, Sacramento (?), Carson City/Reno, Salt Lake? knew a guy that was pretty happy in Pocatello. Bend was alright but Smith gets old. nyc/new paltz or moab?
just stating the obvious.

Agreed. I would start with Vegas, at least in the fall. Then hueco for the winter. Then ? Re: Where to live?
Yeah Vegas is a good choice. Or St. George, UT.
Re: Where to live?
the ideal would be a simple little airstream trailer in the Nevada Desert outside Vegas/Red Rocks. Single with a hooker coming over on Friday night with two big hooters and a pizza and beer.....
