Hi,
My name is Chuck. Me and my super-hot girlfriend and I are way stoked to hit up the RED this week end!! We have been to to the gym at least 3 or 4 times and I am really solid on the 5.8b's. I have my own harness, shoes, and got an BD ATC last night! My girlfriend does not have a harness, so if you have an extra one, that would be great! We live in Columbus, (OH! IO!) and are hoping that someone might be able to pick us up as my '98 Civic is gettin a new CAI and exhaust put on it... It is gonna sound sweet!
PM me or send me an email at Chuckbuck@hotmail.com
Peace!

Re: Show me the Ropes
do you have hammocks?
Re: Show me the Ropes
I'm old, I don't know what a CAI is or why someone would want to add new things to a 98 Civic.
Your girlfriend doesn't need a harness, just cut the back seat belt out of the Civic and follow the instructions here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJvQwUAl8Nc
I'm psyched for you, Chuck. You are going to have a blast and get so many chicks. I'm serious.

Toad: Man, I don't know much about trad climbing, but I will give it a shot. Is the hammock what you rest on when you are way up high?
Combs: Man, tell you what. I will leave my GF at home (she is raggin' anyways). You want to check out Miguels with me? I was reading on a blog that that place is the shit!

You should consider one of the guiding services down there at the red. They will do a good job of showing you around and how to use your equipment.

Yes, hammocks are the standard for multi pitch belays at the Red.climb2core wrote:Toad: Man, I don't know much about trad climbing, but I will give it a shot. Is the hammock what you rest on when you are way up high?
Disregard any following comments that refute this well-known fact.
Re: Show me the Ropes
Also, pitch numbers start at 0 at the Red, which is why you'll often see hammocks at what most areas would call the "base" of the route.

Dude! Bro I would love to spend my entire weekend teaching you instead of climbing. I don't drive all the way to Red to actually climb I just go to make sure I have cool pictures on my facebook so if you got a fancy camera and you could snap some photos of me cutting my feet and doing pull ups the whole way up Eureka I'll totally guide you. Since I'm a crappy teacher though and you'll probably die when you come back on your own I won't even charge you the typical case of beer and pizza covered in weird toppings like the other guys do. Just be sure to stay up real late at Miguels and be as loud and obnoxious as possible by the campfire. Puking on someone's tent should help you fit in and make friends around there to or better yet stay at Lago Lindas and do it there!
On a serious note however are the hammocks themselves actually a problem or is it just the disasters waiting to happen that are typically associated with them all that everyone is complaining about?
