Hey All,
I need seem expertise, advise, and insight!...(regardless, of the accidental and simplistic circumstances)...some 'dark roast' coffee got spilled on my Petzl Nomad 70 Meter DRY TREARTED Rope, in a very small section of the middle of the the rope...is it still safe to to climb with? (I know that coffeee may be acidic?)
Thanks,
B-Rock

Ask petzl
But totally non educated opinion... I would wash my rope and climb on it.

Re: Coffee on Rope?
Was it black coffee? If it had milk/cream in it the pH is probably closer to neutral than acidic....maybe...
Re: Coffee on Rope?
Petzl, is still returning a call!
Re: Coffee on Rope?
Pumpkin...yes, dark roast, black coffee no cream

Climb on it and see what happens?
They make nylon coffee filters and stain nylon clothing with coffee, but who knows what it does to the strength of the fabric. According to a couple websites, coffee is not that acidic, and the blacker the less acidic it is. I'm intrigued to hear what Petzl has to say.

Re: Coffee on Rope?
You should add sugar and cream to reduce the acidity. Plus as an added bonus if the spot is in the middle of the rope it can let you know that you are halfway or that you are trying really hard and just threw up your breakfast.
