1) Person leading a sport route and about half way up, "Can you just double check that I'm not back-clipped?"

2) Same person... "I'm so clumsy I'm lucky I haven't killed myself climbing"

3) Same person lowering off the route, kept their trolley clipped into the belayer side of the rope after cleaning the last draw. Belayer says to climber, "No, that was actually a genious idea that you left your trolley clipped in because it kept you from swinging away from the rock..." ...as the belayer struggled not to get pulled from the climbers swing...

(guy giving advice to his friend about to start a climb) - "Move your foot up a little bit. It's amazing how much difference 6 inches makes."
(girl on the wall) - "6 inches is all I need!"
(me) - *hearty laugh*; girl glares at me..

Climbing behind the wheel to head home from Seneca, my partner says - "Now for the most dangerous part of the weekend". Me - "Then maybe I should drive".

"I'll take your D to my A all day long"
- guy commenting that he preferred the 10d his buddy was climbing over the 11a he was on. Didn't understand why everyone laughed.

Over heard at military to the parents of some spring breakers

" the main difference between climbing indoors and outdoors is the number of routes you can get in"

my new fave, often overheard at the CF: "OMG is that pure imagination??? WOW that is SO amazing!!! Can't believe she climbed that!!! Look how steep it is!!!"

This is typically followed by a gratuitous photo sesh while hanging on the first holds. Ah, the influence of "climbing media"... although I have not yet noted an increased prevalence of adidas merch or pink fingernails at the crags this season.
