"Wild and Woolly Video" is hosting a showing of the classic climbing film "El Capitan" on February 15th at 7 PM at the Clifton Center in Louisville (www.cliftoncenter.org).
Glen Denny, who was the cameraman on the movie and is also famous for his Yosemite climbing photos (glendenny.com) will be there to introduce the movie and do a Q&A afterwards. He'll also be doing a slideshow the following night at the Quest Outdoors on Frankfort Avenue.
Admission is $5 or free if the person is a Friend of the Clifton Center.
It's a "we hope we break even" type event.

Re: Event in Louisville
This film is an absolute masterpiece!!! (Best climbing video ever?) Filmed in 1969 and released in 1978 this documentary follows three climbers up an early ascent of the Nose. Swami-belts, nailing, whippers, twisted rope, hand tied aiders... well before the advent of the modern camming unit. Back when the Nose really was A4. Heck, those are probably even steel carabiners! My, how times have changed.
Wish I could make it, but I will be unable to attend. However, if they happen to be selling copies and there any among you who would be willing to pick one up for me, I'd be glad to pay you when I see you.

Hey,
This is Todd from Wild and Woolly.
Also wanted to let everyone know that Glen Denny will be doing a slideshow and book signing at Quest Outdoors on Frankfort Avenue on February 16th at 7 PM.
I talked to Fred Padula the director and he's working on a remastered DVD of the movie, but it's not ready quite yet.
We'll be showing a 16mm film print, which shows some age, but it actually kind of adds to the effect.
Thanks for posting this and thanks for the interest.

Re: Event in Louisville
I heard aid climbing was easy because your gear is always at your waist.
Re: Event in Louisville
Yes, aid climbing is easy. Unless, of course, it's not.
Like when your gear is spiraling down your lead line at you. (pop, pop, pop) Don't forget to cover your face.
