There is for sure a distinction. And I should have titled it: Can Everyone Climb A 5.14.

Andrew, I think despite all these different body types that you have seen climb 5.14 you may be selling short how hard most of these individuals had to try to get there (whether it was structured training or not), I think barring injury you will climb 5.14 but I also believe that there is a big difference between you and most other climbers from a genetic potential, some people have gotten there despite poor training regimens and bad habits but those are the gifted ones

I like to think of the guy who works for years to climb a 5.14 as the Dominos pizza delivery guy who saves all his money to buy a Porsche but still lives in his mom's basement. He drives down the street, picks up chicks, but can't bring them home. The guys who are actually climbing 5.14 are the guys who drive a Porsche but also make bank and own a Lambo and a yacht, and have women like Charlie Sheen. Andrew could possibly have a chance at the Dominos pizza guy scenario.

I completely agree with first part. There is a difference between climbing many 5.14's and only one. If you spend a year dedicated to God's Own Stone and someone else does God's Own Stone, Omaha Beach, Transworld and Proper Soul in the same amount of time. Yes that other guy is probably quite a bit better than you.

But why the attitude that if Andrew reaches his potential by climbing that one 5.14 with the 5.14 dyno he is only a "pizza delivery guy"? Did Bruce Jenner make up stories about guys that "just" sprint or other single event guys to make himself feel better?

Maybe the thread should read "Can Everyone Climb A 5.14 that suits their personal strengths for maximum bragging rights?

I would say no.

JR, your last 5 years show the same type of glide path. Do you feel most could do "at least one"?

If I am lucky

Jerry... you said it yourself, that it takes a significant level of determination and effort to do for some people. Therefore if everyone put in that kind of effort we would see a lot of 5.14 climbers despite genetic differences. The only people in this scenario that won't be able to climb 5.14 are the true genetic oddballs, like really tall people, because we all know that 4 foot tall 10 year old girls can climb 5.14

Isn't Climb Time practice climbing??? I thought you spent 90% of your climbing time there??? I would call that "training". Most of your climbing is "training" albeit poorly structured.

Easy now JR, I said Andrew has a chance at becoming a "pizza delivery guy who saves all his money to buy a Porsche but still lives in his mom's basement.". No sense in hating on all pizza delivery guys.

I am sure you are joking about being tall but I would say that you are gifted genetically(no I haven't seen your cock). That is not to say that you will ever reach 5.14 even with the time and desire. I would just say that you have better than average chance of sending 5.14.

I would hardly call sitting around spraying about the good old days training.
