Ushering in a Grade
Re: Ushering in a Grade
Dude, you gotta find a way to get that up on youtube or whatever the kids use these days!! Sounds bitchin.
Re: Ushering in a Grade
I would love to see that. Get that VHS digitized and share it with us. And bag the Hall and Oates. That crap makes me ill.
Re: Ushering in a Grade
Is that video on Souths Steepest? Is so I might know some one with it all ready in digital form.
I don't have haters, I have fans in denial.
Re: Ushering in a Grade
The video in question here comes from an era prior to even the South's Steepest. It's a home-made video from Souder's personal collection. Before digitizing and sharing, en masse, I would want to get Tom's permission. Anybody got his contact info?
And getting back to the original topic for a moment... Not in the RRG, but I believe Jim Thurmond was the first climber to bring 5.13 to the bluegrass state in 1987 with his traditional West Kentucky test-piece, Thurmonuclear Crack.

Re: Ushering in a Grade
yup....thought I recall the legend of Thurmond. Isn't he the farmer that was asked how many pullups he could do, and he shrugged and said "not many...7-8 I suppose"....and then after hesitating he said, we'll maybe 8-9 with my right arm.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
