Why won't my arm go straight?

Quit whining. Drink bourbon. Climb more.

Ha, didn't think you actually wanted a straight answer either (posing for the gun show and all). Does it actually hurt? Cause I didn't get that from your OP. if it doesn't hurt, don't worry as it is just your fucked up genetics as it occurs equally on both sides.

If you'd been reaching all the way up to hang your own draws you wouldn't be in this situation. Instead you have been stopping short to clip those perma thingys.

I had a MRI on my elbow this summer and they basically said my are was a well cooked ham steak.

I've been in PT ever since. I only get ultrasound and it feels great! The swelling is finally starting to go down. I can grip up and it doesn't send electricity down my arm and into my brain... If I may suggest you get some pt and ultrasound. Its not cheap but its worth it. on a side note, if ultra-sound isn't an option, I read that a microwave works just as good.

No man I swear I'm not posing. That is me pushing as hard as I can to straighten it out. It's crazy. It's like I'm always flexed. Good to hear that it sounds like more of you guys are fucked up also and it's probably either genetics or something related to tendonopathy. They don't hurt when I try to straighten them but I do have some pain when I squeeze and then let go which is why I was seeing the doc in the first place.

Yea, Dustin, I do have some of those sensitive bumps on the outsides of my elbows but they tend to come and go. And no I don't do any heavy iron pumping. Just light stuff.

Seriously? If you held your arms straight your knuckles would drag the ground when you walk ape-man. it's your bodies way of self-preservation! Dude, I've seen you put your shoes on without bending down, it's freaky.

Having a doctorate in BS, I would have to say muscle imbalance from years of working out without full straight arm extension, likely some tendon damage with scaring. My guess is you sleep with your arms bent......you are f'd. I'd talk to someone in physical therapy, but again you are f'd for sure, just stop climbing.....there really is no hope for you.

This may sound ridiculous, but climbing cracks (like real straight-in jam cracks) always makes my sport-climbing/bolting-related injuries feel better for some reason. And oh yeah, don't forget....

I wouldn't say anymore, just "not now"... And as mentioned (though I have no medical background, I haven't even played one on TV) a good balance of pushing exercises has helped me remain healthy (OK, just not gotten any worse). Dude, the drill is wicked! Such a mean mistress... you just keep coming back for more.
