with the numbers come the accidents. How many dropped climbers this weekend?? I always notice a lot more drinking AT the crags during Rfest.

Seen crowds at Johnny's/Techtonic (14 people)--smoking weed mostly. Other people at the Arsenal, and Solarium--drinking/climbing.
Also, the last several weekends, the gallery has been 3-8 people deep on the 8, the 11a, the four 10's, gold rush, mosaic, and different strokes.
Lago Linda's is not that crowded so far though.

This weekend will be insane I am sure.

Friday, no crowd in Muir (Tectonic, Slab City, Shawnee, Sunbeam), Saturday was not too bad at Eastern Sky Bridge, but most of the crowd stayed together at one end. King me was busy for a while, so we hopped on Dario and Jack in the Pulpit while we waited. Sunday, no crowd at Emerald City in the morning or The Zoo in the afternoon. Just go where the crowd ain't.

Virginia - Please let us know when you see drinking or drugs in Muir. Posting that people got by with this, instead of notifying us so we can get it corrected, just encourages this kind of behavior. That is one great way to get a climbing area shut down. It sends the incorrect message that there is implied consent from the landowners.

Someone gets hurt while under the influence, and 350+ climbs are history.

Just so it is perfectly clear to all out there: Absolutely no drugs or alcohol in Muir Valley. Get caught; you're banned. Period.

Rick, not sure what your signs currently say, but I'd recommend HUGE signs saying "no drugs/alcohol/dogs" for the coming weekend. Might even be worth posting temporarily at the most active walls....just when you think climbers have a bit of common sense, they are just looking for ways to screw up access.
