How will they enforce the access restriction if they let people in? I think you should read this notice as no trespassing stay out; this property is closed until further notice.

Let's stand ready to help whenever the owners need whatever they need to get the place re-opened. This closure breaks my heart. I cut my teeth at RS. RS has been a popular crag for a long time. Arguably it has been the most popular crag for the most neophytes at the Red. I was always amazed at how garbage-free and neat it has been maintained. In general the locals avoid RS during the weekends and busy holidays.

This is a problem that is going to repeat itself over and over again. Popularity of the sport and the Red is exceeding growth of crag and route development. Sustainability is going to become an issue every where. I will be interested to learn more about Grant's land management model. I do want to say thank you for opening up your land to us for so long. I hope that we, the concerned contingent of the climbing community, can help be part of the solution.

I thought I recall that guy saying he acquired permission from the owners to bolt or are you talking about the route immediately to the right of Up Yonder that is missing a bolt and is a bit chossy (and was dthere long before your purchase)?

Yeah, to my recollection that mess has been there for years, even as early as the late 90s? I took a 10-year break from the Red so memory isn't serving so well.

Grant has a point about permadraws. A point that has been reflected in previous discussions online.

These draws are safe and wear well and are weather resistant but if you want a natural setting a shit load of steel hanging from the rock is not all that kool. :|

This is a shame. I was at the Roadside on Friday and there was a group of kids who were being very disrespectful. They set up speakers and were playing music, had set up hammocks, had their gear all over the place, etc. I also saw quite a few dogs just wandering around. They were all on the 5.10 wall right after the approach and my group and I made our way over to Ro Shampo, where we could still hear their music. I love music, absolutely love it, but I think a lot of you would agree with me when I say that I would prefer to have silence when I'm outdoor climbing. People need to seriously understand that climbing is an activity that interacts with nature just as much as it is a sport. Take your speakers to a gym if that's what you want to do...

Thanks, that is what I wanted to understand. I know that geocachers occasionally visit the area, and I would want to get word out to them on this matter as well.
