Space Invaders
Last couple of outings I have been a little surprised to see people I don't know and really didn't talk to do the following with out asking... 1.) Sit down on my camping blanket and lean back on my pack. 2.) Go sit in a hammock I had set up (again with out asking) and proceed to chill there for the next hour.
Is that just being part of the climbing community and we should just all share our shit or does that just seem odd that people invade your space with out asking? If they had, I really wouldn't care...

Seriously? Ummm, it doesn't seem odd, it seems straight up rude and disrespectful. Lay on your friends crap, no biggie, they should let you know if it pisses them off, but not some person you don't know. I'm really glad I have yet to come across all these douchebags I keep reading about on here, but I'm gonna practice punching stuff just in case.
efil lanrete... i enjoy the sound, but in truth i find this seductively backward idea to be quite frightening
Re: Space Invaders
is this really happening? pack mace to the crag?
training is for people who care, i have a job.
Re: Space Invaders
Maybe they just recognize you from all the profiles in the climbing mags.
Re: Space Invaders
were you talking to the guys, was the blanket and bag unattended by a fire for more than 5 minutes? Was she hot?
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared

Was it possible your stuff was strewn all over the crag such that there just was no other place for these folks to sit but on your shit?
I've been a gumby longer than you've been climbing.

I'm not sure where the rude people are coming from. On the flip side, I had a guy on Thursday profusely apologize to me for tripping over my backpack, only to find it was his own pack that he tripped over. I guess I've had better luck in the "meeting people at the crag" catagory.

With this level of confusion exhibited by those visiting the gorge its no wonder why Liz is having to post just about every day about items found in Muir.mike_a_lafontaine wrote:On the flip side, I had a guy on Thursday profusely apologize to me for tripping over my backpack, only to find it was his own pack that he tripped over.
