thats fine. Don't listen. You're well entitled to stick your fingers in your ears and "LALALALALA I CAN"T HEAR YOU" all you want. Doesn't change anything.

"you guys"...please direct me to something I said about bolting on this thread with which you disagree...

and instead of being defensive, how about, with all your years of in the field expertise, making suggestions on how we can make our anchoring systems better. in your opinion, what is the best setup for climbing anchors? You say use stuff for its intended purpose. Please do tell just what anchor is specifically made for climbing...I would be sure to try it out. As far as I know, a specific anchoring system for climbing does not exist on the market.

How about a set of standards for bolting guidelines developed by a group of route equippers. This group could develop a method of community accepted standards. How about something along those lines.

Oh wait. I see, instead of turning this into something good, it will just denigrate into you hating on me and me hating on you.

Clevis, piggy seemed to want your honest opinion. Playing a little game where you refuse to answer the question isn't helpful.

If your view of the issue is correct, i.e. the route developers don't know some of the verboten installation methods for the hardware they are using, how can you expect those same people to write the standards for installation in the Red? That doesn't make sense. Piggy asked you to help him make his anchoring systems better. No bullshit, no name calling, no silliness. He just wants to know how to do what he does even better. Why not tell him?

You see there are all the standards in the world if you want to adhere to them. Hilti has training on how to properly use their equipment. So does Simpson. They even have representatives who will come and give demonstrations if you can get enough people together and if you are going to be a big enough purchaser of their equipment. If a controling body took the initiative then there could be standards. Cards passed out that said you were qualified. Its not that hard.
Don't get me wrong, This shit ain't that hard, dumbass construction workers do it everyday, but they've been trained, whether it was as simple as watching someone do it first then following in behind(kinda like prom night). Or sitting in on a class and watching films about how its done(kinda like finding your dads stash of playboys)

I just think there ought to be accepted standards. And as a plus, gear would be cheaper. Collective buying power is a truely awesome thing. Thats all I been saying. In fact thats all I been saying all along.

but do any of these apply to putting anchors in sandstone, where there seems to be so many variables..you move 12 inches and the stone changes dramatically. I could see a standard anchor perhaps. this year I am paying attention to bolts I ut in that get more moisture, and will be attempting to go stainless glue ins for those venues.
