of course, no one on here would ever be guilty of this transgression...we are all waay too cool and sensitive to be thought of as spray lords.

that being said, if you talk about your gumby off the couch sends, that is not spraying..that is just lame. if some kid who climbs one weekend a season kicks and screams up some 5.10 at roadside, please do not go to Miggies and loudly proclaim your triumphant victory...you are a goober.

spraying is only legit when it comes after proper preparation for the fight and the tribulation.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

I'm often more a fan of anti-spray, as in, "Man, that climb I thought I SHOULD have been able to do totally kicked me in the ass!" Those memories will live much longer for me than any sends I may have worked balls hard to get. Climbs such as Oompa, Monkey Bars, AWOL (bicycle helmet thank you very much), and All Cows Eat Grass will always hold a special place in my mind. Then again, I know I am always a gumby at heart.
efil lanrete... i enjoy the sound, but in truth i find this seductively backward idea to be quite frightening

Same here on All Cows Eat Grass, it was the first route I climbed after getting this pins pulled out of my hand after a motorcycle wreck. I had to spend a hour under that one move crux just scared if my hand is going to hold up to crimping the final bulge. I was seeing images of my not fully healed road rash tearing open on the slab below, total panic in my head, I eventually sacked up and everything was fine.

i think it's good to spray then hose yourself down a bit... like this....

"i sent wild yet tasty second go pretty easily two weeks ago, but last week i got crushed on Return of chris snyder..looks like its back to the gym for me so i can learn how to climb more than 45ft at a time!"

this way i get to spray and not look like an ass.
And on the third day, God created the Red River Gorge(by conjecture), and he saw that it was good.

See, now that is spray....telling someone who doesn't care about your sends ;) Seriously, that is pretty awesome and inspiring!!! If I see you before you leave, will have to buy you a beer. Now go send a real 13 that won't get down graded ;)

Congratulations Phil! I suspect you still got some time to do some other 13a projects before you leave but I would suggest doing a couple of the classic 12d's like Jesus Wept (or Atlas Shrugged),Tapeworm, The Dinosaur, they will go quickly for you
