I'll throw my $.02 in this debate.

Pure climbing is very simple. It isn't what you are climbing or how. It is the "why". If you are climbing because you want to do it and you don't care what any one else thinks.

Ex. When Wes and I went out the other day bouldering. That was pure climbing. We both wanted to be there and we were having fun.

pure climbing is that feeling that you wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world. Not ever. those butterflys in your tummy when you top out and look at the view 300 ft up on the 3 pitch and let out a yelp of joy, or when you top out 15ft up on a slopey highball. yup...it is all what you make it...but I'll take 3 pitches of trad anyday.

For a not so small fee, yes. I am actually thinking I should sell my gear for double retail, as it is very experenced at catching falls. It is hard to find trad gear with real world experence, since so many tradies are pu**ies about falling.

BTW, since the red is all about routes, why would they show a bouldering video? Maybe because bouldering is better then routes?

B/C it is Sharma. </cynic>

And isn't Katie Brown from these parts? It would be a darn good reason to show that video.

Oh, agree the people are cool for sure, and Katie is a former local. But, it is still a bouldering video. You would think that if route climbing was so very cool, there would be at least one video out there they could show. But, look how many bouldering videos there are compared to route videos. And when they do show routes, it is usually just the crux, because it would be worse the watching golf to show a whole route...

And for logistic puropses isn't it easier to film a bouldering video than a climbing video. No anchors to set up for the photographer.

If you were to film a bouldering session you should be able to walk around fairly well to get several views. Or have a few photographers at different angles. Heck even on the top out.

So that's the answer for more bouldering videos, the logical answer. We won't even get into the short attention span of the youth of today :D

True, but you would think that if someone went through all the trouble to set up to shoot a route, then they would want to show all of it, not just parts. But, since watching route climbing is so very boring (even more boring the actually climbing routes, if that is possable), they only show the cool sections. And since there are usually only a few cool sections per route, it just make the case for bouldering stronger.
