Re: Effin Healthcare
Whatever. My point is the way we try to care for people in this country is hopelessly broken. EM is the visceral manifestation of that dysfunction. Btw I am in no way commenting on EM docs. They are well trained and do their jobs as well as the broken system they work within. But ask anyone of them the futility of trying to adequately care for the chronic diabetic heart failure copd vasculopath who has no insurance no primary care doc no hope of follow up, and you will get an answer laced with frustration and futility.
So you know I would much rather be part of a solution. I started of at the Fayette co health dept providing primary care to the uninsured of Lexington and I hope to finish there.

Re: Effin Healthcare
the conditions lurk illustrates reminds me of the old saying "if you think education is expensive, try ignorance" the problems with healthcare may well have a sociological basis, this basis may be manifesting itself in the current teachers' unions turmoil, poor quality teachers mass producing poor quality students, students mass produced from earlier generations of drug abusing non productive parents who have no more invested in the family model than producing or receiving sperm, a political system that perpetuates itself through graft and corruption and by stupid people electing incompetent inexperienced assholes like obama, no wonder the USA is backsliding at an ever increasing rate, enjoy the Simpsons' douchebags
Re: Effin Healthcare
whats up chicken little...
What a sad life you live that you cannot see all the wonderful things that happen in this country. Surely we have our problems, but maybe things are a little better than you think.

From my perspective, the "stupid people electing incompetent inexperienced assholes like obama" is merely a reaction to the exact frustrations you cite. We know the system is broken, so, we elect someone who is at least willing to acknowledge it and take a stab at fixing it.
Then on the other end of the spectrum there are folks who really believe that America is the same ol' country it was when Reagan was in office. Thus, they believe that we can just keep things the way they were and everything is nice & peachy. It's kind of like a stick-our-fingers-in-your-ears-and-go "la-la-la-la-la" so-we-don't-have-to-deal-with-it kind of approach. After 8 years of that (ahemcoughcough incompetent cough*cough* G W Bush *cough), I think a Mr. Obama was long overdue.

when it comes time to take to the streets, what are the odds in your neighborhood that the cops won't shoot?

Wasn't advocating. Simply informing the uniformed on how one aspect of things work. Point is and this is to you as well Lurk. You can work and work and work and we will never come up with a perfect system. Ever. There will always be a group that gets royally screwed up the ass. By making "changes" we simply shift where (and to whom) that fucking of the ass is taking place. Sure, I'd like to think there are "better ways" but still all we're doing is shifting the shit elsewhere.
Lurk, it was a joke, obviously context lost through the magic of the web. But I'll own up to being an ass. Take it as you will.
