Exsanguination?
Exsanguination?
I cut my leg off on Friday while doing some carpentry work around the house. I was a little light headed afterward, but started to feel better after an hour or two. I really made a mess of the couch so we are going to need a couch cover. Anyone have one?
I was going to go to the ER, but I didn't want to waste the cash. Plus, I'm betting my strength to weight ratio just went up +20 or so (I have big thighs).
Do you think I should suck it up or visit a doc?

Only if you are looking to enter the Tour de France. Chances are, if you went to the ER, they'd just try to reattach it. But like you said, your strength to weight ratio is a lot higher now, you can probably add 10 to your max pull ups.

Re: Exsanguination?
I have treated patients that have cut their leg off. This could potentially be serious. Despite the positive strength to weight ratio gains there could be negative side effects. When you walk you may find yourself inexplicably walking in circles or running through red lights while driving (more predominant on right sided injuries). Please seek medical attention.

Re: Exsanguination?
He's probably trying to saw off his leg. Afterall, one trip to the ER to fix both problems makes for a more favorable cost to ailment ratio.
Re: Exsanguination?
strength to weight ratio improved but now your balance will be off, I would suggest cutting the other one off, with that you probably could then do a one arm pull up, maybe then we can fit you with some fiberglass orthotics coated in stealth rubber, you also will find it very difficult to trail run for 12 miles every day which will have the added benefit that your back won't hurt as much
