I got bitched out for rebolting a handful of warmup routes at the New (Summersville Lake, the warmup wall on the way to the colosseum). I didn't bring the correct breaker bar size for the five piece rawls, but figured, since I had just hiked in with all the bolt gear and already wasted a friday, i may as well rebolt the routes, then come back the following weekend and chop the old bolts....

Upon being bitched out for said rebolting effort and not having removed the old bolts fast enough, I offered the said bitcher my breaker bar and said I would be more than happy if he'd go out and do it (I had actually removed the old bolts the day before, on yet another would be climbing day.) He declined and said that it was my mess and that I had to clean it up.

Those routes were getting scary....so I suppose it was worth getting bitched at....

And yes, this topic is relevant to the post above though I don't think I'll mention any names.

I saw you out there doing that, thank you. I didn't think the old bolts looked that bad but I have no idea what was going in the rock or the history of them.

i think we should only allow people to say they onsighted something if they were brought to the base of the route by two men that don't speak english with a black bag covering their head.
