Avatars are now enabled

Post by ray »

I've enabled Avatars so we can now all have an annoying little picture next to our names. Just go to your User Control Panel (see image below) to upload your image. There are pixel and size restrictions so be aware of any messages you receive if the upload fails.

That was a great movie to watch in 3-D but the plot was kinda simplistic.

I'm a big fan of avatars, so I'm happy to see them on here. My only complaint is the file size requirement. The dimensions requirement is fine, but it took me a while before I finally remembered how to reduce the file size enough to work while still making it look good. I tried saving the one I have now in Photoshop as a JPG, and it was too big even on quality 1, which looks like a blurry blob anyhow. Then I remembered that GIF is the way to go. Clicking: File - Save Optimized for the Web, in Photoshop made it have a tiny file size while still looking great. I tried saving it as a GIF in Windows Paint but it looked really pizelated. Saving it in Paint still looked a ton better than a JPG on quality 1 in Photoshop though, and it's file size was small enough to work.

If anyone has a picture they need cropping and or turned in to an avatar, just post it in here and I'll make it in to an avatar for you. Just state whether you want it cropped or not.
