In all my years climbing in the Gorge I have never seen two full quickdraws left on the anchors of a climb, if I did I would consider it abandoned because there is absolutely no reason what so ever to leave 2 full quickdraws on the anchors unless you are not smart. If I did for some reason have to leave draws on the anchor and went back to get them and they were gone I wouldn't be surprised at all.

100% correct. I would have taken them, but I wouldn't have used them in my own personal rack of draws. I would have placed them on another route as "actual" fixed gear. I have no need for more personal draws, but lots of need for replacing old gear. I would have at least recycled them into the community.

I concur on all accounts......if the route is totally fixed, sure, I think "community consensus" is leave it alone, but if you just have a couple of things here and there most people will "clean up" for you...in the same situation, I would think it was getting dark and you noobed out (no light or such) and left them there as bootay. JMO

...I've had first draws stolen and other such shenanigans happen but I wouldn't ever expect "draws" to stay on anchors...or for that matter, cleaning biners (sux, but it's true)...or even in some areas, biners. We did a **** route--ya, 4 stars... @ NRG that only had one crappy rusted quicklink for an anchor, other bolt hanger was barren. That's why I always carry a couple of leavers and some cord/old slingage...and so I can bail quix....

How is this thread still going on? Ive had 4 entire routes stripped of my gear while projecting them. And this thread is complaining about 2 draws at the top of a route? And we are surprised they were gone?

surprised? not really--the original post was just a shot in the dark that maybe the draws might go back to their owner. guess not. my bad. can't blame me for trying, though. just thought it would make my buddy happy. the original phrasing of the post (i.e. "if you cleaned them on accident") was intentional--i wasn't about to go call someone an asshole then expect that they'd give a shit about getting the draws back. anyway... the thread did get interesting, no?

the fact remains: the draws were taken out of, well, someone's desire for more draws. pure and simple. abandoned gear is booty. anchor draws are not. that's the way i see it. had they been sitting on the trail? booty. the middle of the route? booty. but, shit, folks... the next time you find anchor draws on a route, just lower off of them and smile. smile for the same reason that you smile when you find hiking sticks at trailheads. or extra tokens in a shower. or a big stick waiting patiently under a route for you to use as a stick clip. or cairns on a trail that signal which way to go. it's about community. or, in this case, the lack thereof.
