log-in/cookies

Post by Jeff »

Ok, I don't know the technical jargon, but have you ever figured out a way that we can have our name and password remembered on our computers so we don't have to log in every time we come to the board?

Yea, when you log in just check the box that says "Log me in automatically each time I visit".

I've done that ray, but whenever i leave this site and come back to it later, I have to re-login.
I don't think it's anything in how I have my internet prefrences set because there are many other sites that store my login info.
I'm using Netscape.

Jeff...I had to delete the cookie for RRC after the 1st week meltdown. (Ray's answer when I had the same prob) Then I logged in again and edited my preferences to log me in automatically each time again, worked fine after that.

I don't have xp but the cookie folder should be in the main windows folder. Click "my computer" then look for the "windows" folder, open it and find the folder "cookies". depending on how often you clean this folder, there may be dozens, hundreds or thousands of cookies stored there.
I used the "find" feature on my Start menu so I did'nt have to delete all of them or hunt through them all myself. On your start menu, click "find", then "files or folders" . Type the site name in the "named" box and The path in the "look in" box. The path will prolly be c:\windows\cookies ("c" is depending on the letter that designates your hard drive, could be d, e, q...etc), then hit "find now". When the results come up, just look for the right cookie and delete it. Hopes this works for you.
