If you come prepared with something to heat up rocks to throw in your chalkbag and you're psyched on a project then it's a great time. It's all about the sun in December. If the sun is out you're good to go. If not, dig deep for motivation.

http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/f ... moMonth=12 should be useful. Shows the average high and low for december, etc.
a high of 45 isn't bad when it's sunny. Just bring something for extra warmth (you can't build campfires next to routes here). I'm thinking a tent with a nice wind shield and activated charcoal packs would be good for a sunny cold day of climbing (and hot food! hot soup in a good thermos will stay hot all friggin day)
It's cold and a nice snow can blow up on you. I'm sure you're used to snow though

it's fickle.
and if there's melted snow in the air, it will condense on the rock in all the caves

A fleece body suit base layer with a thicker fleece mid layer and a wind proof shell and I am toasty to about 15 degrees w/o sun but no wind. A big breakfast and keeping up with the calories is the difference between being cold or warm. South facing walls with sun heat up quit a bit. Can be 20 degrees warmer near the wall at times. I've been in a t-shirt in Dec and Jan. on occasion. And the best is you can have entire walls to yourself just watch out for falling ice.

the real issue is rain. if it isn't gloomy and wet then you are good to go. however KY gets a lot of winter rain and gloom
