Off-width at Volunteer Wall
Just posted some beta in the ROUTES section regarding the off-width to the right of Anger Management. It is a really nice climb and if anyone happens to have information about it - FA info, name, grade, etc.- I would be interested in hearing it. I would also be interested in hearing if anyone knows how to go about getting in touch with the RRGCC regarding placing anchors atop routes. This route and Anger Management are both enjoyable routes which suffer from nasty top-outs, and I would like to add rings atop them, but, of course, do not want to do anything without contacting RRGCC first. I sent them an email a couple of weeks ago - to the address in the guidebook- but have recieved no reply.

The RRGCC does not maintain fixed gear anywhere in the RRG or PMRP. Contact http://teamsuckclimbing.com/ they may be able to point you in the right direction.

the fa, name and grade are in the guidebook unless your taking about something else. jason haas did them a few years ago.
if your into offwidth choss hunting then those routes are actually decent and i agree that they maybe could use anchors. imo, those kind of routes can be better when they top and out and most the time the top out helps make the route. but i also do not like the damage the tops receive from multiple parties going over and rapping from trees if the routes see traffic at all, not to mention the web of tat thats always left. but in all reality those routes will never see a lot of traffic, so i dont think they are high priority but if your wanting to donate the gear and haas says go for it, im in.

also not to beat a dead horse .....the rrgcc does not police, replace or regulate the installation of hardware. when team suck is replacing/fixing routes they try not to change routes unless they have talked the fa about it, so thats what i would recommend to you to start with.

are you talking about that Haas Memorial Route or something closer to AM? I agree with Matt that bolted anchors to save trees are a good thing, but I also hate it when bolted anchors are too low and skip a bunch of climbing.

I'm not talking about the Haas Memorial Route. This is just to the right of AM. It isn't in the printed guidebook, nor in the guidebook part of this website. Is there another online guide that I'm missing?
I agree that often the top-out is part of trad climbing, but in these particular cases the top-out is really just some dirty rhodo-tugging. Can't say it would be taking anything away from anyone's experience of the routes to not have to bother with that. I also agree that these routes aren't going to see a ton of traffic whether they have anchors or not. That's likely why nobody's spent the resources on these ones. However, I'm a bit of a fan of the off-width, and am happy to supply the marterial and work.
