Ha! They all have tracking devices installed and you don't want to see what happens when a person is tracked down. It's ugly, especially if he/she replaces the biner with aluminum.

steel biners keep getting replace at the lode. does anyone have any idea why this is happening? it's happened on chainsaw and ale 8 that i've noticed. is it people that are just unaware or just are folks taking them? climbers suck!

Stix - I remember that happening last Spring with Chainsaw and someone found the guys who did it. They were projecting chainsaw and took the biners and left worn aluminum. I *think* they handed them over to a guy who called them out.

Phil - I will get back to you.

i was the one who called the guys out last year and they said they would return the biner to me. dan brayak took over the conversation and got the biner back. the cypher was not returned to chainsaw and i haven't seen it. ale 8 is missin some now. why do people take off perfectly good biners that are heavy as shit and in good shape? i don't believe they are being put on different routes. also, when do they grab em when no one who knows better is there to say something?

From a philosophical standpoint, we should consider if all of this "den mother" behavior is really making the Red safer. One could certainly argue that this activity does not promote an attitude of personal responsibility. "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day...", you know?

There seem to be an unusually larger number of accidents at the Red and I've always attributed that to the shear volume of climbers here, but maybe that is not the only factor?
