Thank you for the nasty pile of poop and paper on the trail at Phantasia, just left of Overlord. The aroma was pleasant as we belayed at Overlord.
This pile was probably from last weekend (8/21-22) considering the freshness of the paper and the dessication of the stanky stanky. We might be able to narrow it down if they have left spray in the guidebook forum. Their party was likely on pogue ethics or lord of the flies and they tramped around the corner for some seclusion.
2nd note, some trailwork heading up to pogue ethics would be a great idea, the hill is pretty eroded and treacherous. I'd love to volunteer if we could get a group together for one of these trail days!

Re: Poop on trail at Phantasia
It was Redpoiint. He was one move away from the anchors of Twinkie when he felt this gurgle in his stomach. So close to the send too!
That's a long way to walk though. I would have pooped over by Perverse Intentions. Noody goes over there.

Re: Poop on trail at Phantasia
there was another pile and tp that some left on the trail between creature feature and tweenkie.

Jeez, weren't these people educated? Are they just buffoons? Bury your poop! Sheesh. Every REAL outdoors person knows to do that! Boneheads...
Re: Poop on trail at Phantasia
Judging by the crowds we saw that day, 3 parties of ~8 gang-banging the hell out of the sub-5.10 sport climbs. No, they don't know better. They also didn't know it's not a good idea to teach a beginning climber how to clean an anchor 80ft off the ground, when the guy didn't even know what a sling was called. It was great seeing that we had to a) wait for their party of 8 to gang-bang the route, then b) we had to wait another half hour for them to teach their first time outdoor friend how to clean an anchor from 80ft away.

Yeah..it's bad. One tree falls across the trail and everyone picks the steepest part of the hill to skid down.
There is a nice trail that nearby leads up to Perverse Intentions. Maybe the Pogue trail needs to be wiped off the map and covered with brush...if that will work. As I was belaying a friend up Creature, I watched as a couple ignored the real trail and did the mt. goat thing of coming straight up the hill. I hope my little talk to them will help them in the future.
Victory Whip in da House. Yeah.
Re: Poop on trail at Phantasia
please tell me you said something to them about the route cleaning thing. i had a friend try and teach me to clean during a storm while i was at the top of the anchors on a route at roadside, and it was actually terry who came up and set him straight. for all i know, he saved my life. it sounds like they were pretty ridiculous in terms of respect as well--maybe they could use some coaching in all aspects of climbing.jrathfon wrote:Judging by the crowds we saw that day, 3 parties of ~8 gang-banging the hell out of the sub-5.10 sport climbs.
