I have a lot of friends who swear by them...but none of them will wear them on rocky trail runs. I don't like them at all, but then I've got a recurring Morton's neuroma that flares if I don't have loads of coushin in my shoe.

The scenary looks stunning. Wish I could justify a trip to Montana for a 20 mile trail run. Maybe a multi-day adventure race or week long backpacking trip, but not for something that will be over by lunch time.

There are a gold mine of trail runs to be had in Northern Woming and Southern Montana that get very little traffic when the weather is decent. Hunters/horseman use them more when deer/elk season are in effect. Some are horse trails some are jeep/logging roads. My home town in Wyo could be a major hub for trail races (pick your distance) but the community doesn't support stuff like that, some are in wilderness areas so I'm assuming that could be a stickler to get organized races established. Too many trails to count from fairly flat to downright BURLY through some of the most beautiful country you can imagine. Very few objective dangers save a stray grizzly or 3 :) You could pick a new trail each time you go and probably not repeat for months if not years. Here's a sample of some of them

The Red is already loaded with kick-ass trail running, but it would be nice to have some great mountain biking. Maybe get in touch with the Kentucky chapter of IMBA. Back home, if anyone had any land they wanted biking trails on, the Michigan chapter would be all over it. Not sure how organized the Kentucky chapter is, but if they have some trail building knowledge and numbers, it might be worth a check. And if you have a trail day and I'm available (i.e., my wife says yes) I'm there!

the red proper does have great trail running.... but most the trails on pmrp go straight to the cliff and are just not that fun to run. the area is over due for good single track, its coming....and sooner than we think.

we have been working closely with the KYMBA guys for awhile now, they have been a huge support with trail days, information and actually sending a few people to trail school. we will also be pairing up with the IMBA as well as local shops and national sponsors.

as far as trail days for mtb, i am always out there and we have a mountain bike trail day generally every 3rd saturday and will be having a few big ones soon.

just get in touch with me and make sure i have your contact information if you really want to get involved. this applies to mountain bike clubs, gyms, college groups and so on......

take care
