So, Kris and I got kicked out of the Beer Trailer crag. I am posting this simply so those bolting or that know the owner can make sure that this Rather deranged lady doesn’t spin some yarn about what transpired and screw up access.
This was strange.
This is only my third time to crag in 9 years; so, I’ll admit I don’t really know the ins and outs of the access. We went today, it being Sunday the store was closed. There were only two vehicles in the parking lot, both pulled up to the store. We did the same. A lady came out and told us that we couldn’t park there, we needed to move. We told her that was no problem, she replied that if we were going to be smart assess about it then we should leave. Puzzling. We explained we were not in any way trying to be rude, apologized if that’s how she interpreted the same and asked if we should park closer to the road or had access changed and did we need to park elsewhere?
Again, she was back with the “listen up smart-ass” comments. Again, we explained that it was her place, we were willing to move wherever she wanted, and we just wanted to get it right. She told us it was not her place, move along with the attitude, etc. and so we just cut our losses and left.
The whole thing was odd and surreal. I’m quite convinced that had we had that conversation five times that no matter we said, or didn’t say, the result would have been the same. She was just looking to be surly. If she was being held hostage and told to get rid of us, or we were dead, then I missed the non-verbal cues—and that scenario seems more probably than us having said anything in the wrong tone.

Thats because you all are smartasses
Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today

Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today
I bet it was the same lady who confronted me while walking out of the store a couple winters ago...
She says, "How much you pay for that firewood?".
"I don't know, needed it, so I bought it."
"Ya know it's free in the woods"
"Yeah, but it rained all day, so everything in the woods is wet."
"Still, it's free."
Then she proceeds to lecture me on how to start the fire, and for some reason feels she has to tell me what "kindlin" is about 45 times.
I thank her profusely, and as I walk off the porch she says,
"Enjoy our country."
Ummm.... ok.

Is she the lady who drives the school bus on the old Southpark episodes?

..and we wonder why the county next to our beloved beer trailor is a 'dry' county.
Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today
Scott,
Was it the kind of smaller woman with gray hair? I'm guessing yes. She has been living there for about 3 weeks now. I imagine part of her arrangements are to keep an eye on things after business hours. What with the heat, you may be the first climbers she's seen.
If I were you, I'd talk to Darlene (owner) and let her know what happened, and ask that the woman get filled in on the whole climbing thing.
Pulling up to the building probably got her in defense mode.

Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today
You can also get in touch with the Beer Trailer owners through Facebook (C&S Carry Out "The Beer Trailer")... Jimmy Chambers (Darlene's son) runs it and is a super nice guy.
Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today
Jimmys a good guy, but to keep a minimal # of people involved it would probably be best to get with Darlene.
You know the old game where one person says something then it gets passed on to someone else, facts can get distorted with each re-telling.
Hopefuly you can speak w/Darlene. She's been working Friday afternoons lately.
If you can't get with her Scott, pm me towards the weekend and I'll make sure to stop in an talk with her.

Re: Beer Trailer: we were kicked out today
from your story, it sounds like you were parking right in front of the beer trailer....mistake number one. park out by the road.
second, you got kicked out of the store parking lot, not the crag.
third, hope you guys got heat stroke.
