Hi,
I'm going to be in Cincinnati next week, coming over from Belgium (from the UK originally) for work and I'd really like to get some climbing in.....come on the place looks beautiful and I love checking out new spots!
I was hoping that I could hook up with a few people going down for the weekend of the 20th who wouldn't mind showing me what the gorge has to offer. I can climb up to 7a (5.11d?) and don't mind if it's sport or trad, in fact I don't really care about grades and would just like to climb some fun stuff with new people. Because I'm flying over I'm going to struggle for weight and don't really want to drag my trad rack over but I can bring the basics plus a few extras if needed?
I'll have a rental car if transport is an issue or I can split petrol costs if that works out better.
Failing any form of advance planing what do you reckon my chances are of finding partners if I just rock up at Miguels (seems to be the center of the social scene?) and start asking around on Friday night/Saturday morning?
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Dropping in from Europe
you should be able to find people to climb with reasonably easily at Miguel's. I don't know what my plans are but if I get out you could tag along with my plans, i'm sure i'll get out at least one day hopefully both. if you want to bring minimal gear getting a hotel room at Lil' Abners or a bed at True North would be a good option. if you don't sort out any partners shoot me a PM and we'll work something out.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.
Re: Dropping in from Europe
Thanks Pawikes let me know if you end up climbing this weekend?
I managed to bring my rope and draws over (I realised the company would be paying ) and I'm planning on staying at True North so I should be pretty much set for everything apart from a partner. If anyone's' interested let me know if not I'll probably be hanging around Miguels' on Friday bugging people.
p.s. I'll be driving down from Cincinnati if anyone needs a ride?!
p.p.s. Am I going to get heatstroke, how hot does it get down there?

Coming from the UK, yes-- Most days in August you are looking at temps in the high twentys -low thirtys. But it's an amazing place to climb and you'll love it regardless of how humid it may be!Jonsey wrote: p.p.s. Am I going to get heatstroke, how hot does it get down there?
