that's a bunch of crap....a bear in its environment has to be put down because we are encroaching.

i hope the bear runs far away and is never seen from again. that's ridiculous to put it down!

You think that's crap, recently a bear in the Smokey Mntns was put down because a man just had to get a picture of the bear. He approached the bear and the bear swiped at him so per policy, the bear was euthanized. Of course, you all probably know this story from my FB page.

unfortunately once a bear attacks it loses its fear of humans and the likelihood of a second attack goes up exponentially. it definitely seems wrong, but sacrificing the bear is standard wildlife management protocol nationwide.

I definitely understand that, especially if a human didn't provoke the bear.

I have a hard time believing that this guy did not provoke the bear

Give me a break. Yes there are some really, really stupid people out there. But don't just assume the victim is one of them.

I would say its more likely that he is a dumbass than not. Probably some drunk jackass from ohio trying to get a close up photo of a bear to impress his family and friends. I would bet on the stupidity of the victim before betting on the black bear breaking character.
