Ask that kid at Darkside what he thinks about that....woodchuck008 wrote:Free falling in open space, like on routes at the 'Lode may be where the sport climbing helmet is seldom needed or used. Any chossy rock above and I'm suiting up with the hard plastic brain bucket for sure. Since I tend to drop gear, my belayer is better off too with a lid on the head.

If you give a man a match, he'll be warm for a minute. If you set him on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life!
Sometimes while free falling in open space on routes like at the lode people hit the ground.
I was just trying on the new petzl elios last night. Great new style helmet and it will be great for adventure racing.
Can I be in the club even if I only climb at the Red like three weekends a year? I will wear a helmet only if pigsteak promises not to make fun as me.

Except that for the needs of a helmet in AR can be pretty much met with a bike helmet. Why carry two, unless you'd rather wear the elios on the bike legs as well?rhunt wrote: I was just trying on the new petzl elios last night. Great new style helmet and it will be great for adventure racing.
Though I agree, it is a nice helmet. Much nicer than my BD Half Dome.
pffft, I almost bought one of these helmets...all you training addicts, if you guys promise to wear helmets this fall on your hardest sends, I'm in.One-Fall wrote:Kipp wont make fun of you.rhunt wrote: I will wear a helmet only if pigsteak promises not to make fun as me.
But pigsteak . . .
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
the new petzl helmet with the ponytail hole is pretty stylish. i haven't gotten off my butt to buy one yet, but maybe when i'm in boulder this weekend (bound to find one, what with all the hippie outdoor stores).
climb in maple on a rainy weekend and i think everyone on this board would change their tune. people were pulling full-on, chalked-up jugs off the wall right and left. i'd never seen so many helmet-wearing climbers in one place, and no one was giving them shit for it. in fact, we were all watching them with envy...
