I have a feeling we'd survive just fine without having to kill anyone. Or maybe not. There are many, many people who would agree with both of us. Either way, what do we gain by keeping everything we have for ourselves? More shit? More money? More power over people who don't have as much? So we survive the epidemics, wars, and famine to do what? Further perpetuate the egotism, materialism, ignorance, and the tyranny that arises from those things? Fuck that.

We are already at that gross overpopulation stage. It took about 1 million years of human evolution to reach a worldwide population of 1 billion. In the 100+ years since we reached that first billion, we cranked that up to nearly 7 billion, which is where we stand now. The WHO projects that by 2018 we will have a world population of 12 billion. Currently, in order to give everyone on earth the standard of living that the average American has we would need to have seven earths to provide the resources.

I'm all for the utopia, but we need to clear a few smears out of the petri dish before there will be enough resources to allow such a thing.

without sport climbs, fast cars, and big houses, what in the world would there be to live for?

telepathy.....now I know you are kidding.

and why is having less money, less stuff, and and less power any better then what we currently do? I fail to see how less of that stuff will solve materialism, egos, and ignorance....these things have been with man since the dawn of time....
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

who is going to do this stuff that most people probably would not choose to do? Like dealing with garbage and sewage, for example. Both are honorable professions and I hope pay well. But if money not in the picture, why would anyone do this?

Also, how to you forsee the world's oldest profession under your system?

Here's an example.

You have a community of 100 people. Utopia is awesome. Everyone chips in their fair share and you come up with 1000 lbs of food every week. Since you are so happy, though, your numbers double every week, but, of course, your food is only so renewable and you are maxed out at 1000 lbs per week. So...lets divide it equally and see what happens.

Week 1: 10 lbs per person
Week 2: 5 lbs per person
week 3: 2.5 pounds per person
Week 4: 1.25 pounds per person
Week 5: 10 oz per person
Week 6: 5 oz per person
Week 7: 2.5 oz per person
Week 8: 1.125 oz per person

So...if I had to guess, somewhere in there, everyone died of starvation when it is obvious that 1000lbs of sustainable food would feed X number indefinitely.

Now do that with all your resources.
Sure is a lot of fun while you're doing it...

No, but I've taken enough populations genetics courses in undergrad to know what happens to a population with uncontrolled breeding, no predators, and limited resources. It doesn't end well.

I really hope pigsteak's last post was sarcasm, even though I'm pretty sure it wasn't. If you really are convinced that all that shit is the only thing we have to live for, you are keeping yourself from realizing the most beautiful truth there is. You don't need that shit. And by the way, telepathy is real. So is telekinesis. And time travel. Plus there are conscious 'alien' beings which we can't perceive all around us right now, helping us, guiding our thoughts. There is literally a limitless, infinite reality that exists which we A) Simply don't have the sensory organs to perceive, and B) Don't have the ability to consciously comprehend. But trust me, it's there. I've experienced transcending the physical while still awake, I remember seeing my true essence, and since then, I've started attracting many people who have also seen the light. But guys, there really is more to this place than the physical reality which we seem to think we're limited to--there's more to it than we can even conceive. Sounds like psycho babble, I know, but there it is. It is the truth. Almost everything else we've collectively been told about the world has been a lie, straight up. Really, the point of starting this thread was to eventually get the discussion to there, but instead we got caught up in some bull shit. Once you get to the point of realizing your true self, you realize that we are all one conscious being, split into separate forms to experience subjectivity, and eventually to return to being one, which is the ridiculous utopia I've been yacking about. That is what we came to do. So please, don't get caught up in the rat race. Question everything, even your own beliefs. Be prepared to have your world flipped upside down and inside out, and bask in the confusion. We have nothing to fear, because as a whole we are the simultaneously creator and the observer of this world. Our thoughts become reality. So let's all get on the same page so we can make the world like it should be.
