talk of wearing on "slab" doesn't really cover ir. I was belaying Shamis when he fell Sunday, and it was freaky but he got his foot behind the rope, and it flipped him upside down..and this route was steep. if not for his he hit the wall upside down, and luckily did not crack his skull.

shamis, are you still shaking?

whatahutch wrote:Dang, just ordered an Elios. Well, I guess I will still wear it. Mostly because I don't want to spend the money to send it back, and two because it looks better than a lot of the other helmets. ( I know, call me vain, but some helmets are just plain ugly and I need all the help I can get). I would sometime pack a BD Half Dome of my wife's to the Red and hardly wear it. I however have changed my mind. I grew up riding dirtbikes and on the backs of Harleys, and I would never ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Why would I climb without one.
That is why I just ordered one. Finally getting a gri-gri too, after five years of climbing with an atc.
I'm thinking about going the opposite route and getting one of these: http://www.campsaver.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=434507 I figured maybe I can pose as an oldschool climber which would rid me of my Gumby appearance. Just to seal the deal, I'm also going to sell half of my quickdraws, and I'm going to just buy a bunch of random brands.

looked at the alios. i'd still prefer the meteor. it's lighter & better ventilitated. some things are worth spending a little extra money on.

I agree with you, it definitely looks like it's worth the extra money for your head to be as cool as possible, and the extra weight savings is an added bonus.

Here is a video and article with helmet buying advice: http://www.supertopo.com/best/bicreview ... met-Review

They didn't like the Altios as much as the others, it probably got 3 stars because of the price.
