This gate idea was decided in a super double secret meeting - possibly one with Geronimo's skull present - where no outside climber's were welcome to attended - especially climbers with differing opinions than that of those snakes that put themselves into power controlling the coalition?
that is not right.

the gate idea has been discussed at the last TWO PUBLIC coalition meetings. anyone could have attended who wanted to. I realize one had to be canceled/rescheduled due to snow issues, but there were still several non-BOD climbers present.

FYI..... I asked many people about the gate when the idea came up. From Dirtbag climbers at the shop to professional weekend warriors and people like Tackett. No, we didn't ask everyone on the planet but I think we did our due diligence. In the end, I'm still not sure it was a bad idea.

I can tell you right now I am not going to have a poll for every action we take. Professionally speaking, my team is all over the world. I have already met with Europe, New York, and California today and it's not even 2pm. Conference calls and virtual meetings are not something I am unfamiliar with. Sometimes, a decision just has to be made and very few decisions are irreversible.

I am well versed in Robert's Rules and managing meetings both virtual and in person. Unless agendas and meetings are managed properly, it's a waste of everyone's time. It's not that we haven't tried, it's that while I am President I will not sacrifice a minimum level of efficiency for full enclosure. We all have lives and already sacrifice a bit of time and energy to keep this gig running. It's not our fault if we blow off our plans and drive to wherever another weekend in a row to meet and you can't make it. I have no problem making a video and posting it for review, but if you want to discuss and weigh in, you gotta show up or talk to one of us off line. We're not that hard to track down and we post dates for the meetings as soon as we know we can get a quorum.

There is also a lot of bookkeeping and paperwork stuff we do in Executive sessions. This is required, so we don't get audited and have our 501(c)3 revoked by the IRS. That's not exclusionary, it's necessary.

Maybe there's someone out there with more experience running RRGCC or in professionally managing meetings but I'd like to see that resume. This is the system we have, we can maybe tweak it but I don't see it changing much without seriously causing problems. When my tour is over not only will I celebrate and have a robust airing of grievances, I will let everyone that inherits this gig run it as they see fit.

We do what we do the way we do it because it's the best we've been able to figure out. Come to the meetings, or review the video (when we get that rolling), or review the minutes we post. It's a new RRGCC, and we've done our best to include everyone that wants to work with us.
