Can someone give me the info for a good AMGA guide? My friend and I want to get out to the Red, but, well we've only been climbing in the gym since December. Thus, we don't have equipment (ropes, draws, etc) or lead experience. So, we felt hiring a guide would be the best way to do a day trip.
How much would it cost for like 5 hours of climbing for 2 people? Would you suggest taking lead instruction from such a person?

Correct, it's not cheap, but well worth it especially for someone who's only been climbing for a few months (no offense). Another alternative is to find a more experienced climber at your gym, who you trust, to take you guys out. Gym to crag is a big transition, and the last thing you want to do is learn by trial and error.

It's a great time. For the experience, gear, leading the routes for you, saving you and partner from bodily harm and his time, it is an expense. Look at it as private lessons. It will be the time of your life. Pony up and do it. There will be no regrets. If you like it in the gym, outside on the real thing is way better.
2 people for 5 hours for $100 would only be $20/hour for that person's wages. Factor in equipment, training, transportation, insurance, etc. Most guides don't work 40 hours/week, so all of a sudden they're netting less than $10/hour if it was 50/person.
